Love antiques? Check out the Burgess Museum auction!

Love antiques? Check out the Burgess Museum auction!

"Our admiration of the antique is not admiration of the old, but of the natural." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Teekers need not worry. Somerset County, who now owns the museum, will be offering more goodies at a second auction later this year.  Auctioneer Pete Richardson always does an amazing job. I love to listen to him roll those words off his tongue. What an art! And he is always accommodating when I need to jump up in his trailer for a photo.

Here are a few of the items you missed.

Not just causal bidders - the Chief of the Marion Volunteer Fire Department and his wife. All of this once belonged to her grandfather. The museum is near Marion. The second auction will be held in Princess Anne, a few minutes up the road.

There has to be some good stuff in this pile!

Pete, shown left, has no trouble getting bids.

Look at the ornate painting on that seeder.

Stay tuned for the date of the next auction. They are going to roll out the really good stuff. If you are a collector you gotta be there! Or just come for the fun and walk among Eastern Shore history.

There has to be some good stuff in this pile! That 11th photo looks like a scene in the TV docu I just watched."Earth after human,"

So did you pick up anything useful or might come handy some day?
