Crisfield Memorial Day

I am running way behind in getting all the photos I took over the weekend on the Crisfield Blog. I was about to shut the computer down for a little crab cookout, but had to add a few photos  from our Memorial Day service today. Stay tuned for more photos from all of the weekend events, and more from our special tribute to the fallen.

Thanks to the Salisbury Jaycees for choosing Crisfield as a great riding location - for the third year in row. And a big thanks to Jason Rhodes and his father.

Oh, I captured these friendly people at the American Legion, where the ride began. Don't you just love that car?

Crisfield Memorial Day Events - 2010 -Part 2

The Crisfield Elks Lodge hosted 3 veterans for the Wounded Warrior program. One of their many adventures while in Crisfield included a pork roast at the lodge, followed by parachute jumpers.

More photos to come on this.

Thank you, active members of the armed forces and veterans! Words can not express our gratitude.

Crisfield Memorial Day Events - 2010 - Part 1

Busy weekend, so posting a few photos out and about town. More photos on all events later.

Everyone decorated for 4th Friday.

Shoppers and visitors were treated to a little entertainment by the "The Menno’lites"

A Friday "Cruisin’ for a Cure" abroad the Steven Thomas.

Soft Shell Metric Century sponsored by the Salisbury Jaycees.

The Crisfield Elks sponsored a weekend "Wounded Warrior"  event. As of this posting, I have not had time to get up with them, so more later. I missed them at this breakfast that the American Legion held in their honor; the veterans were still on an early morning fishing trip when I arrived.

Part 2 tomorrow...

Fire in the sky...

“If I can put one touch of rosy sunset into the life of any man or woman, I shall feel that I have worked with God.” ~ G. K. Chesterton

I seem to be into sunsets now.

A Crisfield Cat

I was cleaning out some folders on my desktop and found this shot I took last week of one of our five house cats; I woke him from his afternoon nap on the back screened porch.  How could I let such a good shot go to waste?

Meet Skipper. Skipper was brought to our door by a  member of the humane society when he was only three-weeks old. That was in August of 2006.

In Crisfield, as in most small towns, they say if you are not born here, then you are never from here. But someone told me that if your children are born here that kind of makes you "from here", and they conceded that Skipper kind of makes us "from here",  since his bloodline could go back far in time. So, thanks to Skipper, we are kinda "from here". And thanks to the nice people of Crisfield, we feel like we have lived here all our lives.
