Firday "My Town" Shootout - Favorite Place to...

“One must be out-of-doors enough to get experience of wholesome reality, as a ballast to thought and sentiment. Health requires this relaxation, this aimless life.”
~ Henry David Thoreau

This week's assignment comes to us from Cindy in Alaska. I have a lot of favorite places around Crisfield. Since the subject was open, I thought I would pick my favorite place to relax, that being a little place I will not name because tourists know nothing about it. We could take you there but we would have to kill you.

I have used these photos before in two different posts, so forgive me if you have already enjoyed them. I was going to go back and take some more photos but the only things that change are the tides and the light.

You can see from the photos why I go there so much. If you see three people it is a rare day. Most days you see no one. Some days, you are lucky and get to talk to a crabber.

Click on photos to enjoy them in a larger format

A rare occassion when I ran into people.

And a crabber.

I understand why this is your favorite place. There is beauty in the old buildings, and peace in solitude. A great place for spiritual connection and personal reflection.

I would love a place that this too, quiet and secluded, nothing but the water, sky, birds, and peacefulness around me! I can smell the salt water already, ahhh, how I miss it.

Yes I remember a couple of these shots...they lose nothing in repetition. Bagmn wants to meet you there even if you do have to kill him afterwards.

Patty, I really enjoy visiting your photos! I've never been to Maine, so many Vermonter's have but not me :( - maybe some day.

Could you possibly do me a BIG-HUGE favor? I also mentioned this to Gordon but I'm not too sure who can make the change for me, so I thought I'd ask you too. The link for me, from the my town site, brings friends to my other blog rather than my main one. All of my shootouts are at http://simplyheathersblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Friday%20Photo%20Shootouts. Thought I'd kick in the labeling, therefor all members will only get the shoot outs :)

Thanks Patty.

It looks like htere's electricity running to all of those buildings. I hope a developer doesn't get the idea to turn it into a resort!

I am trying to imagine big crabs and little crabs under the rocks, around the boat, in the buildings. I guess they all get eaten. =D Your pics are captivating and give one the feeling of a sense of place. Lovely!

I can understand why this place is your favorite. It looks relaxing! I can almost smell the salty breeze and hear the gulls crying in the distance.

The quote you began your post is timeless, just like the quality of the shots you posted.

Happy Friday!

Great shots. I love the crabber - he looks like a good guy!
The crab pot shot is interesting to me - our crab pots are round and yours look square! No matter as long as they are full!

Love your favourite place! I can take myself there in my mind right now, close my eyes, see it and smell it. I think I will keep it stored away for when I need a mental holiday. Thank you.
