Spring in Crisfield

Spring in Crisfield
Everyone knows when spring is just around the corner. Trees and flowers awaken our senses with a rainbow of colors and sweet smells, song birds sing in the season,  daylight savings time - which begins this weekend - gives us those extra cherished daylight hours we have longed for for months, clothing stores flood their floors with skimpy clothing we know we won't wear for several more weeks, and media weathermen will soon be announcing the arrival of spring, which begins on March 21, on a continuous loop.

Crisfielders notice another tell-tale sign that spring is just around the corner.  Crab pots begin to appear.  We see them popping up on docks, being moved in the back of pick-up trucks, and Eddie Heath's Crab Pots is abuzz with incoming supplies and outgoing supplies and new crab pots destined for working water towns across the country. Waterman everywhere have been busy washing, repairing, and getting their crab pots ready for a new season that begins on April 1. So even though the song birds are still making their way to my backyard, the crab pots of Crisfield are a sure sign that spring is just around the corner.

Are you ready for some Crisfield crabs? We have the best! BTW, mark your calendars now for our annual Soft Shell Spring Fair - May 29, on the City dock. Event sponsored by the Crisfield Lions and Lioness.
