Oysters in black and white...and color

Tilghman, MD Crisfield, MD oysters
It's no secret that I love black and white photos. I think a lot of people merely scan color photos with their eyes. They look at black and white photos more carefully. If you have noticed that many high-end magazines are depicting more black and white ads, that is the reason.  Advertisers want people to stop flipping through look-alike eye-candy ads and take pause at something unexpected. They do. So here is a little photo-study of the unloading of oysters in both color and black and white. You can linger or move on.

For those of you who love oysters but know nothing about them, waterman work very hard to bring the mollusks to your tables. Being a waterman is no walk in the park, and a bushel of oysters can weigh 60 pounds or more. These 2 watermen came to Small Boat Harbor in Crisfield from Tighman, Maryland. Thanks for letting me photograph your work and your catch.
