Ah, Pavarotti would have made a great Crisfielder. Crab and clam eating requires a lot of attention.
I only have time for a few photos, most of which were taken before the clam bake began. I thought people might like to know what goes on in putting on an all-you-can-eat and drink event for some 6,000 people. Please check back on Friday for clam bake photos - part 1.
I started off my day photographing the steaming of over 300 bushels of crabs at MeTompkin Seafood. Thanks to Glenwood Evans and MeTompkin for their help. We all pitch in around here.
Then I popped into Gordon's to see what was happening.
Jay Tawes, of Tawes Insurance, was gearing up for the day to work the fish fry booth. Nice shirt, Jay. He has them made special for his volunteers.
Then I went over to the Olde Crisfield Crab and Steak House (and tiki bar) who volunteered their steamer for the bushels and bushels of corn that would be served later in the day. See what I mean about working together?
A little taste test is always in order.

Oh, and I also covered the tour of the new McCready Nursing Home for government officials, and went on a tour of Rubberset with Crisfield Mayor P.J. Purnell and Governor O'Malley, and I covered an after-clam bake event with candidate John Phoebus - House of Delegates - District 38A. Stay tuned for those photos. Great people helping people shots, Patty. Food looks so good how could anyone wait? Hope you got some steamed crabs and corn too.
