Wachapreague Firemen's Carnival, 2012 - 60th Anniversary

Wachapreague Firemen's Carnival, 2012 - 60th Anniversary
Several weeks ago, I did a post on Wachapreague, VA. The carnival season had not yet started, so I promised to return to capture the flavor of a small town carnival - true Americana, to say the least.

I am running behind with current photos, but with vacation time upon us, I thought I should post a few photos for those who may be in the area on the 4th of July.

Pay special attention to the carousel and pony carts. Though updated, the carousel was built in the 1920's and the pony carts in the 40's-50's. The carnival is also organized and run by volunteers of the Wachapreague Volunteer Fire Company. And they have been doing it for sixty years!
