Maryland 2012 Crab Season begins April 1, 2012

2012 opening of Maryland Crab season
The crab race is on! Good luck to all our crabbers.

For those who think cabbing is easy, most pots come up like this. That is why it takes so many pots to make a bushel.

Measure, measure, measure!

When it rains, the photographer can retreat to the cabin.

In file photos, David Horner and crew work the waters off Deal Island. Law requires that certain sized crabs be returned to the water, so David's crew do a lot of measuring and throwing back a portion of what they catch. It's backbreaking work. Enjoy every morsel of Maryland crab you eat. Oh, and don't waste when your all-you-can-eat crab order. Maryland crabs are a precious natural resource.

From our crabbers...

to your table.

Enjoy, and appreciate, your Maryland crabs!

~~~
Diners, when ordering blue crab on a menu, make sure it's from Maryland. Also beware of fine restaurants that have "Maryland-style" crab on their menus. Don't get ripped off by eating imports. Demand Maryland blue crab!
