I have posted this photo before, but I liked it so much I dusted it off and am presenting it again this Father's Day.
I spied this "dad" on the city dock in Crisfield a few days before Father's Day last year. He had his hands full watching the kids as his wife and a friend shopped around town.
I watched him from a distance for quite a long time. He was just as calm as a cucumber as he interacted with all those kids. I remember thinking he deserved an award of some kind for such patience.
I took his photo and talked to him awhile. He was a really nice guy, and told me he and his family had come down from Pennsylvania for a little vacation in our beautiful town.
So here's to you, Dad from Pennsylvania, and to all you dads in the world.
Happy Father's Day! Have a good one!

Thanks for the Dad Post, Patty.
I have not been successful accessing the website.
Tried lots of things to no avail.
I know you are busy. Sorry.
Happy father's day to all the fathers you know Patty!
I love the photo because it's so candid!
Great photo! That family had a lovely place to vacation.
Neat photo Patty!
And yes, here's to all the dads in the world!!
Great B&W picture Patty. I love that he was calm. Happy Father's Day all you Fathers.
This was a lovely tribute Patty.
I had not seen it before, so thanks for posting it again...what a great catch...a story to be read in every single face in the picture! I'm about to receive family morning festivities for me being a Dad...don't tell anyone but my ideal father's day would be to get kicked out of the house for a day with the camera.
Happy Father's Day! to all dads.
Good job and we love you!
What a fantastic picture Patty! And I love that it is in B&W - I am not sure that color would have allowed all of the intensity of the picture to show through!
Happy Fathers Day to all of you Dad's!
And it looks like he's fishing off the dock too. Is that a fishing pole I see behind him? Wishing all the Dads a great day today!
Patty...
Thanks for a GREAT father's day photo..I appreciate the thoughts.
Dan
Audrey: That was a fishing pole. He helping the kids fish, too. What a multi-tasker!
Gordon: Sorry you are having trouble posting. Maybe it is a Father's Day gift of rest from the Universe.
Dan: Thanks, and have a good one.
Redlan: Thanks. I like it, too, because it is ageless.
Mildred: Yes. Crisfield is a great place for a family vacation.
Audrey: The photo is great in color, but some photos call for black and white. Except for the carriage and the plastic water bottle, that photo could have been taken 40 years ago. Remove those two things and put the kids in cloth diapers and that could have been taken 100 years ago.
Patty, I really love this - well, I love all of your pics but this is especially lovely.
Happy Father's Day everyone. :)
what a lovely post and wonderful words too. i hope reggie is okay despite computer problems. what's the topic for this frida? hope to make it (didn't manage last week). hugs.
Happy Father's Day to MD, and a happy Sunday! (Germany's father's day was in May, so I totally forgot that it was coming up over there this month!) :-) ciao dear friend, Debby
Oh, what a fabulous photo. FABULOUS, I am so glad you re-posted it, I missed the original showing.
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads in Crisfield!
It is you that should get an award. This picture is today's equivalent of that famous photograph of a woman with her children during the depression. She is haggard, but beautiful. I don't know enough about photography to remember the photographer's name. I remember she was a woman.
