Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department and The Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Department

I took this photo last week when the Crisfield and Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Departments were doing what they do best when not fighting fires - helping each other out. All of our fire departments do that.

This was a moving moment, and a personal one, so I will not go into the details.

Princess Anne is the one on the left.

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows when
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me

If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another.

It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

That photo is FANTASTIC! If I don't read the words to the song, the photo has another whole meaning to me - seeing the flag of my homeland, makes me of course homesick, but makes me feel as if I want to be there right now to see my nephew shipped out to Afghanistan soon. Married and the father of 2, it will be hard to think of him so far from his home. Another great post, dear friend. Loved that you dropped by the other day to say hi! I too miss the good ol' days when there was more time to chat!! hugs, and MERRY CHRISTMAS ~~ Debby
