We all know the feeling of seeing something worthy of a photo and not having a camera. I usually never go anywhere without a camera but even I miss some shots that sneak up on me.
I had just finished shooting something near the city dock and was talking to some people who I knew. I was walking backwards, still talking but saying goodbye when I turned to see this young lady almost on me. Since I had been shooting the water, I knew I had to adjust my settings. I quickly lifted my camera, framed her and saw her smile, but she was too fast for me - by the time I changed my settings she was gone, and I missed that lovely smile. It only takes a split second to lose a shot. I hate using auto, but sometimes it is nice to keep one camera on auto just so you never miss a shot. You can always adjust in Adobe.
A few minutes after I took the scooter photo, I arrived home and was getting out of the car when I saw this biker heading my way. I had a little more time to adjust, but I almost missed him.

I have more photos in my mental album, than anywhere else!
I want to be a great photographer like you. Your photos are inspiring.
You are so right. There are so many times that I wished I had my camera and have recently started taking my camera with me everywhere. Once you get photography in your blood, details of the world and the soul of places start standing out and "snapshots in time" start forming before you. Also, I have started saving for a more quality camera because of some of the shots that my current camera just can't capture--like moon shots.
I'm laughing because I always miss more than I get :) Practice is what I need.
