Handing Over My "Friday Shoot Out" Crown

Bye Bye Birdie
I'm gonna miss you so;
Bye Bye Birdie,
Why'd you have to go?

I will make this short.

I started this blog to show off the beauty of my town. It is indeed a tranquil, beautiful place full of wonderful people. Last February, I met Reggie Girl in Georgia through Blogger. We kidded each other about whose town was the best (I was born and raised in Georgia) and we started the "My Town" shoot out between ourselves. We had no intentions of inviting anyone to join us when we started the shoot outs. But people wanted in, and we thought it would be fun. It was, but it grew too fast.

The newspaper has been keeping me very busy, and trying to keep up with some 70 shoot out members - and growing - as well as 100 followers, and answering emails from people about our town...well, this has become a job. It has also limited my time to showcase Crisfield.

So, I am saying goodbye to the town shoot out for awhile and in fairness, asking that my name be removed, at least for now, from the shoot out list.

When Reggie Girl left due to burnout Gordon took over. We now have GingerV and ChefE on the team. I am passing my crown on to them to share jointly. Thank you, all. You have done a stupendous job!

So Crisfield, I will be able to showcase our town more frequently.

Oh, I will still be visiting all my friends when I have time. And when you have time, hop on over to see more of Crisfield. We love company.

For the long version, please visit our Friday Shoot Out site.

Carry on Gordon, GingerV, and ChefE!

I hope you come back on an irregular basis at least. You are a great photographer, elevating the rest of us. I feel sort of guilty for jumping on and being part of what has changed what the two of you started. Good luck with your new career in Crisfield...they are the lucky ones to see themselves through your lens.

Kent, I am not going anywhere. I will still be around and visiting. And I hope you visit me, too. Don't feel guilty for joining our little "gang." I think the shoot outs are great but my time is so limited now, I felt it would be best if I bowed out for awhile.
Since we put a cap on the number of shooters this will leave a spot for someone one else who has more time.

Not a new job. I work for the newspaper. I just needed more time to showcase my town on this blog, which was its intended purpose.

Patty, You know I will continue to read your blog, and comment as I can, and I certainly understand the time constraints. I've pretty much narrowed my weekly photo memes to just the MTSOs because I was in 2 others with over 100. It was taking away time from actually going out and shooting, and you know, living...

I tried desperately to keep up with Camera Critters in the beginning but it seems I can't make a commitment & stick with it. So, I know how you feel. Life always seems to get in the way somehow.

I had wondered what happened to Reggie Girl, thanks for passing on the info. I feared for the worst, so burnout isn't so alarming. It's curable.

Please don't ever stop with your pictures. I may not always have the time to comment, but I love them and they make me want to visit someday...

Snooty: Thanks. I will never stop taking photos and promoting my town. I hope you do come back and visit Crisfield through my photos and perhaps visit out beautiful town one day.

Yes. Burnout can sneak up on us. The trick is to see it coming and head it off.

I know Gordon, ChefE, and GingerV will keep everyone going.

Patty,
Many "originals" are leaving the shoot out. You and Reggie Girl really started something! There are so many people now, it is difficult to get around to everyone. I will be visiting your site so you can keep teaching me brilliant photography. We will carry on!

Great pictures.

I will not be able to do any photos until I solve my computer problem. But will be back as soon as I can.

I was scrolling through your blog archive to see if I could find something that gave me a clue where Reggie Girl went... and trust me, I understand blog burnout. Life is just too busy, and the memes and the blogs seem to keep growing and getting a life of their own, and they demand so much of our attention!

It was good to stop by your blog today and see more of Crisfield. I'm a very irregular blog visitor these days, just doesn't seem to be enough time in my day to get around to everyone.

Continued good luck with your newspaper job and the wonderful photos you post for Crisfield. You are such a fab ambassador for this beautiful and serene little town! :)
