Friday "MyTown" Shoot Out - Power

J9 came up with this week's assignment. It was a good one.

As many of you know, I have been very busy. Things are not going to get any better until after Labor Day. But since I started this town shoot out with Reggie Girl (who has since left our little gang - come on back, gal) back in February, I pretty much feel obligated to at least make a showing.

Everyone is doing a great job. Right now we have a ton of shooters who are showing off their photography skills in some beautiful and creative ways. We have decided to limit our number of shooters so we can get this project back to a more personal level. Please go to our Friday Shoot Out site for info and links to all the shooters.

A big thanks goes out to Gordon, ChefE, and GIngerV who are helping to keep the shoot outs going.

Since we are allowed to improvise, here are some "Power" shots(I will let you figure out what part "power" plays in each photo):

The shot of the guy with the hammer really appeals to me for some reason - like the angle. And the smile on the gent in the last photo is powerful!

Thanks Elaine. It takes a lot of power to swing a hammer. I know. We have built a lot of decks. I used the hammer guy as a feature shot for the paper. He was helping to build a private dock. I think it was going to be some kind of floating dock.

Love your shots and the power of your camera is always awesome!

Thanks Gigi.

Nice job...I like the framing on the man with the hammer and the first shot screams power to me! Especially since we had a power outage caused by someone working on the lines like that...he was fine, but kaboom...we lost power for a few days!

very nice, I know you have been super busy.

It is crazy how the shoot out's gained so much popularity - all around the globe!

I miss Reggie Girl.

When I got Louis to pull over so I could get some photos, I also told him what you and Mark say: A photographers' number one tool: the brakes on her/his car!

I could not have said it better, you always shoot it better, and we love ya no matter!

I agree, I miss Reggie Girl, and was looking forward to meeting her, and maybe spending some quality time in the kitchen with her too, but hearts will prevail...

Some great photos, Patty and thanks so much for dropping by my blog and commenting on my pictures. The park area around the ponds is definitely tranquil. Today was a day that was balm for the soul.

Blessings,
Mary

Patty, as always, you have some amazing photos. I really like the first photo a lot. I also like the man drinking the water, (he's ruggedly handsome) and the second to the last photo really grabs me too. They are all very cool in different ways.

Patty, as always, your photos are amazing. I really like the first photo a lot. I also like the man drinking the water. (he's ruggedly handsome) and the second to last photo really grabs me, but they are all cool in different ways. Seeing the old man with the fishing pole generates sweetness in my soul and the last photo just powers up my smile.

My favorite is the guy sitting on the pallate on the fork lift - The image is so striking with the nearly monochrome background and the orange lift, and the absurdity of a guy just sitting outside a window, looking like he's stopped by for a chat! And all of the converging lines! LOVE IT!

As always your shots are wonderful.

Can you tell me what those fabulous smiling people are wearing in the last one? The red spiky hats??

Since I joined FSO, I discovered your talents that you can show in photos and express in words. Until now I can see and always admired your power to capture the perfect photos. Keep it up Patty!

Wow..very creative interpretation of the topic of power. The working men and the drinking of water are all fantastic photos.

I love the angles on your power shots. Everyone looks satisfied. Well, maybe not the guy on the balcony (what's he doing?) but everyone else is all about confidence and confidence is power. I love the cherry picker shot with the sprung wire! Brilliant power trip.
