"You can know the name of a bird in all the languages of the world, but when you're finished, you'll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird . . . So let's look at the bird and see what it's doing - that's what counts. I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something." ~ Richard P. Feynman
Another little get-about in our boat begot these photos. You birders need to polish off your binoculars and head to Crisfield. We got lots of birds!

these are fantastic Patty! thanks for sharing.
Outstanding pictures! Are those first few pictures Northern Goshawks or Sparrowhawks? We have Mississippi Kites here, which are similar in size but not nearly as pretty in markings.
Absolutely beautiful...
Doreen: Thank you! I get a lot of visits to my site - about 125 a day now (I have a site meter)- but I don't get a lot of comments. So, I appreciate people taking the time to post.
Snooty Primadona: They are Ospreys. Beautiful creatures who enjoy the bay as much as we do. They are picky about sharing, as you can see from some of the looks they were giving me. I have a long lens so we try not to get too close. The first and third photo have chicks in the nests. The second photo is a young chick, too.
