Time to go fishing!

“Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers.” - Herbert Hoover

When the weather starts to turn warm, everyone's mind turns to fishing or crabbing around these parts. In Crisfield, everyone is gearing up for the season by heading to Dave's. Dave, pictured left in the below photo, knows just about all the best fishing spots around. And he knows what the fish are feeding on.

Dave sells fishing licenses, all the right kind of bait for catching your favorite fish, and crabbing gear. Dave has it all! We say "If Dave doesn't have it, you don't need it."

Dave also sponsors a fishing tournament or two.

So, if you are in Crisfield, just look or ask for Dave's. Be sure and sit and chat awhile, Around here, we don't just don't run in places and get what we need. We "visit." That is what makes our small town so unique. Everyone is friendly, and most places have a chair or two for you to "stay awhile."

The below photos are some fish caught at one of Dave's tournaments, and of course, with Dave's bait.

So for some good fishing and some equally good chit-chat, Crisfield is the place to be.

Don't have a boat? Take a charter.

“The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of that which is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.”

Did you pre-schedule this or were you up this early? But it is about catching fish and you know the old saying, "The early fish is caught by the worm." Something like that.

My Dad so loved to fish. He especially loved local Trout Fishing in our streams. In his younger years he would go Ice Fishing... Burr-r-r-!
Great Post!

I always enjoy meeting the locals here! By the time I'm done reading your posts, I feel like they're old friends of mine.

Great post, it brought back memories of my father going out fishing, deep sea and of course just local rives and lakes. My favorite memory is us kids going to IL to visit his family there and fishing the summer away. How my brother used to love teasing me with those disgusting worms we used as bait!! Ugh. No wonder why I hate worms today still. :-) Those are some big fish in your photos, we sure never caught anything like that. Have a Happy Palm Sunday. hugs from Germany, Debby

Wow, I thought we had big fish in Hawaii. I remember bamboo-pole fishing in the stream when I was young. Those were the days!
