The Last Supper

Remember to click on photos to enlarge.

"For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this holy bread, and drink this holy cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."

I caught the good people at Asbury United Methodist Church practicing for their re-enactment of the Last Supper. Some of you may remember this church from our church photo shoot-out (this is the one with the magnificent old organ in the tower).

The church is very near my home. It's members are delightful, and if you are ever in Crisfield, and looking for a church to attend, do look them up. They would love to have you!

I hope you enjoy the photos. Crisfield wishes everyone a Blessed Easter.

I filtered the following photo:

A few close-ups:

The above photo shows Chief Bill Reynolds, left, of the Crisfield Fire Department.

While waiting, I took some photos of the magnificent stained glass.

I want to thank all the members of Asbury United Methodist Church for such an wonderful gift to our town.

You've wonderfully captured Holy Thursday's solemnity. I love the final photo of the church in evening, illuminated, the glow a glimmer of Easter's celebration to come.

Thank you Elaine. And thanks to all the members who did a wonderful job putting this together.

Yay, it's cool that Crisfield gets into the Holy Week spirit while some of my countrymen are nailing themselves to the cross. Lol.

I love the way you filtered the Last Supper!

Those are some marvelous stained windows!

HalfCrazy: That is the nice thing about our blogs: It lets people learn about the cultures of others. I love the Philippines.

Thanks on the compliment about the Last Supper.

Yea. Those are awesome stained glass windows. Asbury knows how to do it right.

Loida: Thank you. The Living Last Supper was a gift not only to the people of Crisfield, but to people around the world. Isn't is amazing that the Internet has allowed people as far away as China to enjoy their reenactment?

I love the photo-shop enhanced last supper diarama...particularly the power cord just to the right of Jesus.

Leave it to Butler and Bagman to point that out. For those who do not know him, he is our resident comedian. What else would you expect from a seasoned AP writer with two people living inside him? Bad Bagman!

Beautiful stained glass shots. I had to giggling just a bit at the hand santiziers on the first table shot. :)

Great photos! My old church used to re-create the town of Bethlehem (in the church parking lot). Your use of scripture made the pictures come to life also.

What a lovely post for Holy Thursday. Your photos of the table are especially nice.

aurbie said...

Michelle: Yes. I just shot that table because the light was nice and I had some time before the dress rehearsal started. I can't pass up good light.

I wish my flash had not died. I wanted to take more shots of everyone, but that is what happens when you leave your "serious" camera bag (the one with the batteries in it at home). If I had not shot the stained glass I would have been able to get more shots, but they were so beautiful. And the light was right.

Thanks Willow. I know the members will appreciate your comment. Happy Easter!

Hensly: Aloha to Hawaii! Thanks for the nice comment. Look forward to seeing you on our Friday shoot out in the morning. I love wandering around your state. It warms my bones, too. Spring must have taken a side trip on its way to Crisfield.
