Here's the Church

Here's the church, and here's the steeple
Open the door and see all the people.
Here's the parson going upstairs,
And here he is saying his prayers.

We might not have any fancy new churches like a lot of you do, but we have some fine people who attend our churches.

And folks, these churches have some real history in them.

"I love you when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your temple, pray in your church. For you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the spirit." - Kahlil Gibran

Let me rephrase the above quote to read "sons and daughters."

And, if I may put religion aside for one moment, if you are ever in Crisfield, check out the newspaper for church suppers. We want you to dine at all of our fine restaurants, but if you can find a church supper on a Friday or Saturday night, you will be treating yourself to some real home cooking, Eastern Shore style; and you will meet some super friendly people!

Wonderful photos. I love the churches in your town as well. You know, I always think there is so much that just looking at a church from the outside tells about the people on the iside.
Barry did a fabulous job with his churches as well.
Lol, you're right.....we have gone into the travel brochure business and I want my raise too....retrocative :)
Take good care and I hope you have the best birthday ever Patty :)

Great shots Patty. The Wesleyan shot is probably my favorite. I love how old some of them are. We are a little younger out here on the west coast.

I went out and shot a church today. I couldn't help myself and cropped it real close...so it isn't a whole church shot.

I think I might try to make Friday my day to find a new church to shot.

Patty, there are some amazingly beautiful churches where you are. Ours are not as majestic, but nice all the same! Thanks for the invitation, and mine are finally up, but here it is still Friday!

I love the extreme perspective you used on the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. It does what churches should do, inspire us to reach for the sky!

J9 had some wonderful photos of churches in her community too. This was great fun visiting each other's towns.

You said it Reggie Girl! It is all in fun, and what fun it is! We can't wait to meet you and Prince. The crabs will be hot on the table when you arrive this summer! We will take you out on our boat, and go to Smith Island and Tangier Island. And of course, a meal a Gordon's is on us!

What fun! I love seeing photos of old churches. We have a historical church tour here in Jacksonville, FL every year and I always attend....so much fun!

You did a great job capturing these!

Correction on the church links. I listed J9 twice. The "Canon Girl" comment was meant to be for Michelle who took a super photo of a church in her area. I tried to change it without deleting the whole comment, with no success.

Anyway, visit Michelle's site. She also has a Photo a Day project, which is pretty neat.

Sorry Michelle. Hope you will join us in our shoot out next week. I won't goof again!

Hey, Nessabates. Love your photos, too. You should join us next week. Jacksonville does have some beautiful churches!

Vanessa Bates said...

I might just have to do that :)

Nessabates: Looking forward to have you join our shoot-out. The subject is people in "our towns." Reggie Girl picked "old houses" for the following week. Remember, we post on Fridays.

Reggie Girl: Are we talking duded up old houses or falling in old houses or can we mix 'em up?

I don't post on that blog much, this is the one I post on....
