Pictures or words?

Weather in Crisfield, MD
 Yes, this is trick post.

When I pick up a newspaper I look at the photos first, not just  those on the front page, but on all the pages. If I read the same newspaper for awhile, I can usually tell without reading the credits who took the photos, because photographers develop their own styles and their photos become like their signatures. Most people never read photo credits. To that I say, you do a great injustice to photographers who go to great lengths to bring you timely photos.

And to those who look at photos without reading the stories, well, that means you have not read this far, and unless you live here, you are going to close out this window thinking we had snow. Nope. The storm missed us. The above photos of a city worker clearing the city dock were taken after our last big snow storm. The first photo shows the worker shoveling snow; the second photo shows the worker shielding his face from the bitter cold wind while trying to keep his traction on the ice. It is a wonder both photographer and worker were not blown into the bay.

Last night, I was on watch the entire evening, into the morning. At one point, I saw a little ice accumulation on one of our pine trees, but not enough to drive me out into the cold night air. I kept a watchful eye on the ice  and the sky - where were those snow flakes? - but thankfully, Mother Nature spared us, at least this time.

So what happened to the storm?  NOAA, can you help me out here? In any event, Crisfielders - that includes photographers and city workers -  are very happy that the stormed passed us by.

The weather for today and tomorrow, from NOAA:

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 37. Breezy, with a west wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Breezy, with a northwest wind between 21 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 32. Breezy, with a northwest wind between 18 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. North wind between 13 and 15 mph.

Gee, I may be able to pull some wind photos out of this one.
