A little road trip...

"No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow."  ~ Lin Yutang

I am not sure where I shot this photo that I filtered. It was on a little road trip we took to Onancock, Va. last week. Onancock is a tiny town about sixty miles from Crisfield. I love abandoned motels. They are so Americana. I hate to see them disappear.

And this mailbox was photographed in Onancock. It must be as old as I am. Of course, we did not have 13-ounce rules when I was growing up.

There are so many things to do within an hour or two of Crisfield when you feel the need to go on a road-trip. In some towns you have to drive for hours to get away from your front-door. Traffic, stores, same-old-same-old; here, you can get to dozens of quaint little towns, the ocean, or the big city in a  few hours. And we are only a three-hour drive to Washington, D.C.

Think about talking with one of our many realtors when you are ready to make the move to the quiet life. Crisfield is a great place to live and a great place to come home to, especially if you are returning from a trip to the big city.

Nice choice of filter! I wonder how long it will be before the post office goes out of business.

You're right about the motels - we pass one in Niagara Falls, NY called Bit 'o Paris. We make sure we note it each time we pass. Hi to Skipper!

Bagman: That little mailbox was out in front of a restaurant that used to be a general store back in the really old days, even before me. Post office going out of business? Not until we can pay our bills in our sleep. As high-tech as I am I still pay my bills via the USPS. I just can't bring myself to put all my info out there for the world to try and steal.

Scattering: Skipper says Meow to Gray.

I love the motel shot, it's perfect filtered like that! And I love the ole mailbox, but I wonder, like Bagman, if and when the postal service will go out of business.

Again, thank you for the link regarding the Marine who needs the double lung transplant. I hope that more and more people will visit the link and watch the video...very touching...and I thank you again for sharing that with us.
Warmest smiles,

Do not be at all surprised if one day I do visit your sweet town and area ...because you won me over a long time ago!

That old mail box looks like its still in service? Unlike the motels.

I love the way you filtered the motels, by the way. With such lovely little towns nearby, Crisfield certainly looks like a lovely place to live.

Oh a road trip, how I love them. Doesn't have to be far from home, just has to be some place one has not been before and suddenly it turns into a great adventure! I love VA. Was there with hubby years ago and it is one place that he definitely wants to get back to before we are old and gray. he loved it there. I am a mailbox lover, and no matter where I go, I seem to be snapping pictures of mailboxes both here and in the states. I don't know what there is about them, but perhaps it is cuz they mean connection between people, letters of love, letters of friendship, even just the old bills. Internet is great, but there is nothing that beats snail mail and the mail boxes they were mailed from!! Hope you are having a great weekend. hugs, Debby
