Whose kitchen is this?

fifties kitchen
"I am especially grateful, however, to have known the fifties, before we began to poison our own civilization - or at least before the effects of the poison began to be felt." ~ Orson Scott Card

If you grew up in the fifties, you may have had a kitchen like this. Does anyone know whose kitchen this is?

Those who follow my blog will find one clue in the photo.

I'm guessing it is your kitchen? Wish it were mine. Love it!

Cathy: wishing it were my kitchen too! Neither a Maryland nor a Georgia kitchen.

jackie: it does bring back some nice memories, doesn't it?

I must not follow your blogs as well as I think because I can't find the clue - but I'm thinking Cambrdige/Boston. Could it be Julia Child's kitchen?

Bagman and Butler: shame on you. You missed a post, but to be fair you would have had to have read the post to pick up on the clue. And you would have to have a really good memory. Hint: I said I would post photos when I found them.

Bagman: another hint: not in the North, but I do miss the good old Cambridge days. Oh, to still be within walking distance of Harvard Yard. I had a special tree I used to love to sit under as I contemplated life.

Patty - I have to admit that last evening when I pulled up this post, I guessed that Goat milk was a clue. I may be waaaay off. But I looked around in Maryland for a goat farm (found one...but couldn't ID it with this kitchen photo.) I'm in the dark...but can't wait to find out. You have created a mystery for me...and Nancy Drew is a character that I used to LOVE to read about.)
I'll be baaaaaaaack.

Jackie: nooo. Not in Maryland, but you have your eye on the prize. I received 37 emails with guesses, and no one got even close. I will reveal answer tomorrow as I fully expect some more emails to come in this evening.

Carl Sandburg's home place in Flat Rock, NC? Is that a book of poetry on the table?

Cathy: either you read my blog well or you are an excellent guesser. You are correct!

I made a fog posting a few weeks ago. I used his "Fog" poem, one of my favorites to accompany the photos. I explained that the photos were not taken in North Carolina, but added that his home was one of my favorite places to visit when we lived in Georgia, and that when I ran across some of the photos, I would post them.

In the fog post, I talked about his wife, who had raised prized goats, hence the goat milk clue.

So, yes, that is the kitchen of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sandburg in Flatrock, NC. The home and grounds now belong to the Parks Department. Regular tours give people an up-close look of life in the fifties through the eyes of this great writer.

Congrats! I ended up with 56 guesses via my email (my followers never seem to be bloggers, just lovers of photography), and no one came close, which means they don't actually read my blog, they only look at the pretty pictures. Ha!

Yes, I read your blogs! And I remembered you posting about finding pictures to post later, but couldn't remember which post it was, so I had a delightful stroll through your past blogs last night until I found the right one. I do love your pictures, but I also enjoy the blogs!
