From Somerset County Tourism:
This spring we cooperated with the Maryland Office of Tourism and Parade magazine to highlight “Food Festivals” across the United States. We were fortunate they chose to spotlight the National Hard Crab Derby Cooking contest and several of the winning recipes. As a direct result of those efforts, the “Today” show picked up the story.
On Wednesday, July 13th, The “Today” show is scheduled to feature a recipe from the 2010 National Hard Crab Derby crab cooking competition. Barring any late breaking news, during the 10:00am segment, Kathie Lee and Hoda will be discussing “Food across America”. In the later part of the segment, approximately 10:45am they will be sampling the 1st Place Appetizer “Captain Bobbie’s Crab Bloody Mary”.

I'm sorry there is not much left of this tasty treat. Looks like the judges enjoyed it immensely. BTW, this is just one of the many events that make up Crab Derby weekend that is held every Labor Day. Click here to see file photos. Contact Crisfield Chamber of Commerce for info.
Roberta "Bobbie" Willis, left, is shown receiving her award.
The crab cooking contest, sponsored by the First Baptist Church in Crisfield, is open to everyone. Below are some of the dishes from last year's contest. I can't wait to see what's on the menu this year! This is an always an enjoyable event to photograph.

Oh, and after the contest, everyone gets to sample the wares.
Thanks to the ladies at the First Baptist Church who make this event such a big success.
