35th J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake, 2011, What You Need To Know...

35th J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake, 2011

Things you need to know for Tawes Crab and Clam Bake   - Wed., July 20th

1.     The gate will be open to the public at 9:00 a.m.  Food is served at 12:00 noon.  No one is served without a wristband, which you will receive when you turn in your ticket at the gate.   Seating under the pavilion is first come, first serve.  No reserving seats for others!  Food will stopped being served at 3:30 p.m.

2.     It’s helpful to bring a small cardboard box, plastic tray or a drink flat to carry your food with you.  Also, there are paper towels and napkins available, but some people prefer to bring their own.  Some even bring “wet-ones”.

3.     Mugs and mallets are available just inside the gates, until gone.  Make sure you pick yours up early.  Plastic knives are available, but you might want to bring your own crab knife.

4.     Don’t forget the sunscreen, sunglasses and hat!

5.     Condiments (Old Bay, vinegar, butter, ketchup, mustard, etc.) are available at the table next to the food booths – not at the tables where you eat.

6.     Lines are long for the permanent bathrooms, but look for portable “comfort stations” throughout the grounds.  Portable hand washing stations/sinks are also available.

7.     It’s going to be hot – drink plenty of water – bottled water is available at the “beverage booth”, provided by Pepsi. (included in ticket price)  We will also have a first aid station available for medical emergencies.

8.     Lost and found will be at the main gate –  7th Street entrance.

9.     No food will be allowed to leave the grounds – eat all you want – but eat it there!
Security will be at the gates checking. By law, you can not leave the grounds with alcoholic beverages.

10.  Before you leave, check out the “souvenir booth”, near the front entrance, where you can get Clam Bake T-shirts, hats, etc.  Also visit the information booth, which will have brochures, maps and general information about Crisfield and Somerset County!!

11.  Handicap parking is limited.  If you need to, you can drop someone off at the
gate, then park your car, so they don’t have to walk.

12.Very Important – ticket stubs must be filled out before entering gates. Filling this out
puts you on our mailing list (or email list). There are no door prizes, so fill out for
mailing list only and please do this in advance, there will not be time at the gate.  Thank you!
