Somerset County Strawberry Festival in Marion June 26, 2010...

"Strawberries that in gardens grow
Are plump and juicy fine..."
  ~ Robert Graves

I would like to say this would be Marion's 1st annual strawberry festival, but Marion knows more about strawberries than than anyone else...they were once known as, "The Strawberry Capitol of the World."

Crisfield Events, the Somerset County Arts Council, and the Crisfield Heritage Foundation, are working together to bring you a "strawberry" good time on Saturday, June 26, 2010, in the little town that once produced so many strawberries,  people say that one days marketing in Marion Station in its heyday wouldn't equal the current annual rate of berry marketing in the entire US. That's a lot of strawberries, folks.

So come on out for the 1st annual  Somerset County Strawberry Festival in Marion, at least in a long time, to be held in downtown Marion, at the intersection of Highway 667 and 413.

After the festival, head on into Crisfield and check out the shops and restaurants, or come a day early for the 1st "4th Friday" in Crisfield. Shops will be open late that evening, and every 4th Friday of the month, throughout the summer months.

Don't miss a chance to sample our local strawberries and learn a little about history.

To help you plan your day:

 Vendors open at 9:00 a.m.
          Little Miss & Mr. Strawberry Pageant - 11:00 a.m.
Strawberry Festival Parade - 1:00 p.m.
(parade open to all children, pets, and non-motorized entries - register at noon)
2:00 p.m. - live entertainment
