Award Winning Bed and Breakfast

I was going to post this later when I got around to posting a few businesses around town, but since Reggie Girl made fun of my romantic cottage-by-the-bay photo, I thought I would bring out the big guns.

This is My Fair Lady, winner of the 2008 - 2009 Best of Bread and Breakfast awards, an online site that rates B&Bs around the country.

This beautiful 1900's home, located at 38 West Main Street, was built during the height of the booming seafood business in Crisfield.

You can make reservations by visiting their website at: myfairladybandb.com.

Now there's a home of dreams...so cozy...I love Victorians...I think I should've been born in that era!

Noelle: I, too, love the Victorian-era. Just looking at that house reminds me of one of my favorite poems by Carl Sandburg, one of my favorite poets (next to you, of course!):

"Let us sit by a hissing steam radiator a winter’s day, gray wind pattering frozen raindrops on the window,
And let us talk about milk wagon drivers and grocery delivery boys.

Let us keep our feet in wool slippers and mix hot punches—and talk about mail carriers and messenger boys slipping along the icy sidewalks.

Let us write of olden, golden days and hunters of the Holy Grail and men called “knights” riding horses in the rain, in the cold frozen rain for ladies they loved.

A roustabout hunched on a coal wagon goes by, icicles drip on his hat rim, sheets of ice wrapping the hunks of coal, the caravanserai a gray blur in slant of rain.

Let us nudge the steam radiator with our wool slippers and write poems of Launcelot, the hero, and Roland, the hero, and all the olden golden men who rode horses in the rain."

Add a ship's captain crossing the road, or crab pickers on their way to work, or the sound or a train's whistle coming in for the day's catch to the story, and that poem would pretty much sum up life in Crisfield some 100 years ago.

We have a lot of beautiful homes in our area, but I love the older ones the best; the history around here is so rich.

BTW, I know you are new to North Carolina, but have you been to the Carl Sandburg home? When we lived in Georgia, we would go at least once a year. What a magical place it is!

Oh my....I love Carl Sandberg. Of for the days of all of that, sigh......

Okay let's do the signs Friday if that is okay? I have to go to Alabama to get the pup from my daughter tomorrow and that will take pretty much all of my day.

Okay then..........next Tuesday.....Victorian Homes or churches???? Up to you. Let me know and I'm ready for Friday. It's on Crisfield Patty!!!!!!!!!

2L3B: It is so worth it.

I have a lot of people talk to me about photo books, but I am so busy. I have a couple of things in the works. When I win the lottery, I will have all the time in the world to work on my photo books, and I can use the proceeds to help others.

Dreams are nice!

This house is so lovely. I would love to live in one like it on about 50 acres of wooded lands around it with many many animals living with me.
