Happy Veteran's Day from two states - Bayard, WV and Cape May, NJ

Happy Veteran's Day from Cape May, NJ and Bayard, WV, Mayor Steven Durst, Bayard Town Council
Finding little gems in my travels is what makes traveling worth...well, leaving home for, at least for me. As a photographer, I enjoy finding surprises as well as chatting with the townsfolk that I meet along the way. Since retiring, I have been spending a lot of time out of Crisfield, and I am always surprised at what lies around the next curve in the road. It is a wonder I get anywhere, really.  So on this very special day, I would like to thank our veterans with photos from two states. The first photo was taken in Cape May, NJ.  I thought the flag would serve well to thank both active military and veteran men and women for their sacrifices. The following photos, taken at the Bayard Veteran's Memorial Park in Bayard, WV, are perhaps better suited for Memorial Day, but Bayard, a tiny town of under 300 people, did such a wonderful job on this park, I could not resist posting it now. And there is a veteran in the photo; my husband, USMC door gunner, Marble Mountain and Dong Ha, Vietnam, 66-67.

Cape May, Bayard, and my veteran, join me in thanking all veterans for their service. And let us not forget the silent sacrifices of their families.

And here is a little IPhone snap of my hero, taken on Veteran's Day:

I guess that makes that 3 states: West VA, New Jersey, and Maryland.

Thank you for sharing these. I grew up in Bayard. My dad's name is on the monument and helped contribute to it's creation. I hadn't seen it before I found your page. It makes me anxious to go home for a visit!
