A Slice of the South

"His house was perfect, whether you liked food, or sleep, or work, or story-telling, or singing, or just sitting and thinking, best, or a pleasant mixture of them all." ~ Tolkien

I was passing by this house today and saw these 3 dresses hanging from the ornamental trim. The cool shade had settled in on the porch and the dresses, glinting in the setting sun, stood out like fine jewels in a storefront window. What could I do? I had to stop for a photograph.

The scene so reminded me of the deep south. If one did not know this photo was taken in Crisfield, Maryland they would automatically think of the old southern homes in Georgia.

Actually, we are more southern than one would think. Just a few miles up the road from our house is Ape Hole, situated on the bay. It is the southern most point in Maryland. So I guess that makes us kind of southern and famous at the same time.

We don't drink too many Mint Juleps around these parts, but we do sit around on our porches and enjoy the summer afternoons and wave at people who pass by. And they wave back.

Plenty of hospitality to be found here. So why don't all ya'll think about coming to our little ole' town for your next getaway? You'll be glad you did. And I'm sure we can round up a teeny little Mint Julep or two to go with all those fresh steamed crabs you'll be wanting.

Oh Patty, I know that I would love your town. I do love being by the water, and I could eat seafood every day! Your town looks so lovely, and warm and friendly. Yes, i think that I would like it.
