Crisfield is located in Somerset County, and sometimes I present you with photos and light stories from around the county, simply because a city or town has more than one aspect to it.
I try to make my photos fun or educational, and they usually highlight the neat things about Crisfield and the outlying areas, and introduce you to some fine people.
But being that today is Mother's Day, I thought I would take you 'round the world and show you another side of my photography.
Mother's Day is a day to be with family. Some people have mothers who are deceased, and I know that Mother's Day can be extremely painful and lonely for them, especially if the loss has been recent. To them I send out my regards.
But today I also want to send out my love and well wishes to all mothers around the world. For some, the world can be a very bad place. I know. I have been there, and I have photographed those places.
So, while you are looking at these photos taken while on assignment in Thailand and Bangladesh, please think of those less fortunate on this day.

Kelly: It does put things in a different light. I think sometimes we are so caught up in everyday life that we do not realize that so many suffer needlessly.
I too have been thinking about this subject. Beautiful way of bringing it home. Thanks
(BTW-I am a member of the Shoot Out Gang, I posted that this week I myself had been "Shot" because I've been so busy... I think that some of us don't post some weeks because we didn't have the time to, they usually note that on the blogs keeping track of the "Shoot Out Gang" but I guess they missed noting it for me this week. I hope your Mothers Day is a special one).

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there. Thanks for sharing these photos to your readers. Sharing these will make people realize that some people are not as lucky as they are. Anyway, I thank you for visiting my site. I just arrived home from my retreat and I already posted the photos from our garden. I'm not really a good shooter but I hope those pictures will do. :)

thank you for this non-traditional mother's day post. Mother's Day is one of the hardest days of the year for me. I've had multiple miscarriages and in my heart I am a mother to those babies that I had carried, but to the world I am not a mother because I have no children.

What a reality check! We are so lucky.
These kinds of photos are always a reality check for us here in the U.S. We are blessed with so many basic needs that others in this world do not have. Quite truthfully, I count my blessings for my simple needs being met all the time -- warmth in the cold, an air conditioner in the heat, shelter from the storms, food to keep me from being hungry, clothing to protect me... and the list goes on and on. I do not desire more wealth, because I already have more than 2/3 of the world's population. What more could I possibly want?
