Crisfield Crabs!

“As I have practiced it, photography produces pleasure by simplicity. I see something special and show it to the camera. A picture is produced. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it is theirs.” ~ Sam Abell

I hope you enjoy this "crustacean" moment. I capture the crabs with my camera so you will be enticed to come to Crisfield and enjoy the real thing caught by the best watermen on the Eastern Shore.

Fresh crabs.

They are beauts!

Do we have crabs, or what?

No, we don't fight 'em. We race 'em and we eat 'em. I love this shirt, though. You can pick one up at the Blue Crab Crustacean Station.

Crisfield, Maryland Crabs...

"There is a saying in Baltimore that crabs may be prepared in fifty ways and that all of them are good." ~ H. L. Mencken

Oh, and just to make you even more envious, it was all you could eat and drink.

Thanks, again, Bob. This is Bob.

A big thanks to all those who volunteered their time waiting tables and distributing crabs. We have some wonderful people in Crisfield. In two days, I covered three events where people pitched in to raise funds for good causes. I love Crisfield!

"So if anybody wants to get me something, get me 60 crabs - one for each year. I don't want no diamonds, I don't want no shoes, I don't want no party. I want some crabs." ~ Patti LaBelle

I will be 62 in March. Hint, hint.

Crabs Anyone?

I popped into Glenwood Evans in Crisfield the other day to see how the crab catch was going. Pretty good, from the looks of things. This is the best time of year for crabs. They are fat and juicy. Yum.

Thanks to the nice folks at Glenwood Evans (that's Bob Evans on the far left - he is a hard worker) who let the press tromp around. Sometimes I run into our local TV people there. Visitors can watch all the activity from the city dock. Great picture taking, especially at sunset.

Crisfield Friday "My Town" Shoot Out - Textures

“What interested me was not news, but appraisal. What I sought was to grasp the flavor of a man, his texture, his impact, what he stood for, what he believed in, what made him what he was and what color he gave to the fabric of his time.” ~ John Gunther

Crab Shanty, filtered.

I had planned on doing something special to go with the above quote but time is always my enemy, especially in the summer months. I have always loved that line, so even though it does not partner well with my photos, I decided to leave it.

This assignment comes from us in Linda in Canada. I don't have much for you, but I hope you enjoy my mix of filtered and unfiltered photos.

This is a drug dog at work. Animals have wonderful texture.

A wildflower field on a windy day, filtered.

A seafood dish with scrumptious texture.

Another seafood dish. We have lots of those in Crisfield!

A really filtered photo of the bay. Bagman, did you hack my computer?

A little textured fun from our annual Crab Derby race. See last post for dates. Be there!

I love the texture of old wood.

A filtered crab. Yes, I shoot lots of crabs. After all, Crisfield is the, "Crab Capitol of the World." Really!

Filtered crab shanty.

Little girls know how to "texturize."

Birds enjoying the sunset. Filtered.

Please note: I am not going to have much time for the next few weeks to participate in the shoot outs. If I can squeeze something in, I will. I will be visiting, though, catching up on missed blogs, and making posts.

ChefE has filled in for Gordon this week, and she has done a great job. So ChefE, if you don't mind, can you pick up my slack. And please stay on as one of our team members. Chime in anytime.
