Norfolk Southern

Norfolk Southern
It's been a long time since I had to stop for a train, so I thought I would take advantage of the moment. I wish we had more trains moving both goods and people.

FYI: From Wikipedia: Norfolk Southern was created from predecessor railroads which date back to the early portion of the 19th century. Prior to modern times, the three main branches of the current corporate family tree were for many years themselves systems: Norfolk and Western, formed in 1881, Southern Railway System in 1894, and Conrail, formed much later, in 1976.[1] Each of these grew from many smaller local and regional lines as the railroad industry grew.

Today, Norfolk Southern, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, operates over 20,000 route miles in 22 eastern States.

We could use some of that rain in my part of the country. The Weather Channel gives us a pretty good chance of rain, starting tomorrow (August 4) through Tuesday. It's still going to be miserably hot.

Hey Patty, could you send us some of that rain?! We're dried out like Wheatabix up here. I love trains and a train in the rain is even better.
Hey to Skipper from Gray!

My son is a Norfolk Southern engineer, and so you know that these photos bring warm smiles to my heart!
Hugs,
Jackie

Jackie: whoo-hoo! I love trains. A big hug to your engineer son. If only we could move freight via trains.

The railroad practically built this country; I am working on a proposal to ride the rial for a few months, documenting the history of the rail.

A Scattering: I am beginning to think that we are going to dry up and blow away. We have been having rain all around us, but nothing here. My tomatoes look like marbles, and I fear our well will run dry if I keep watering them.

This photo was actually taken about 2 hours for our house. It seemed strange to see the rain. I think we have had a spit to two over the last few months, but living in a place known for hurricanes, I think nature saves up for us.

If the hurricane last year had not been pushed out of the bay, I would be writing this from another location. I fear we will either get washed away this year, or completely dry up, as in Global Warming.

Skipper is fine - a 25 pounder fine, and says Meow to Gray. Hope you and Geoff and doing well. We are busy, but fine as wine.
