Nostalgia

Old men playing checkers photo
The old days are slipping away, taking with them our history. The simple life should be put on the endangered list. This store has been demolished.

I love your new header photo. And the great shot of the checker players....it must be "speed" checkers because they both appear to be moving at the same time.

No wonder it is demolished, it is hardly making money when people are not buying but sit around playing board games.

Ann, this was a photo I took years ago to go. People were working hard back then. In small towns, young farmers would gather at the local stores and talk about the day's work over a cups of coffee, and even play games of cards and checkers hours before most people's alarm clocks went off. After retirement, old-timers continued their early a.m. treks to their favorite stores. Most of those stores are long gone now. This one was demolished year's ago, taking with it a piece of Americana.

Amen to that, Patty!

Anon: maybe we need to play more checkers and less video games.
