34th Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake TODAY!

34th Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake
It's today. I'm there. You're here. Oh, I need to start working on that "Time Lord" thing again.

For all you unfortunates out there who could not join us today, here are a few crabs for your enjoyment. I will have a ton of photos to edit tonight and tomorrow, so don't look for Clam Bake photos until Friday, though I may be able to get a few on tomorrow night. If you don't see Clam Bake here tomorrow, I will "entertain" you with something equally Crisfield.

Crabs. Yum.

If you can still get to Crisfield, bring an empty drink flat for your crabs (that is the standard dish). Though you get a free mallet (mug and knife), you may want to bring your own mallet and crab knife. You would not want to mess up your souvenirs.

It's going to be hot, so bring an umbrella, and plenty of sunscreen. And have a great day!

Miss us this year? Never too late to plan for next year, especially if you want one of those fancy tents. Call the Chamber - see number on sidebar.

Are you ready for the 34th Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake?

34th Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake

 We are!

Yesterday evening, 46,000 clams were bagged at Glenwood Evans Seafood in Crisfield by volunteers who want to make sure you have plenty to eat at the J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake. It was a lot of work, but we did our job like good Crisfielders. Afterwards, we partied like good Crisfielders. Oh, we do know how to party, and to put on a party!

If you are moving to Crisfield, or have a second home here, you can join us anytime. We can always use volunteers! Just let us know, and we'll find a place for you at one of our numerous events.

See you at Clam Bake on Wednesday! Tap me on the shoulder. I just might take your photo!

A big "Thanks" goes out to all the volunteers, and to Bob Evans for the use of his facility. Oh, we don't serve just clams. It's all you can eat clams, crab, corn, oysters, fries, watermelon, beer, soft drinks and water, and more. 12:30-4:00 p.m. at Somers Cove Marina, Wednesday, July 21.

And who will be steaming the corn and crabs, serving the beer, and food? Volunteers, of course. It takes a city to put on an event like this!

No times for names...just enjoy the photos.

Well, one name. Bob Evans. Thanks again, Bob.

Steve helps, Bob...

And we all help out...

Karen went out her of way to mess up this good photo.

Karen gets scolded.

And everyone got a good laugh...

Thank goodness, some people took their jobs seriously.

Look at this kid go. Hey, I have some yard work that needs to be done.

Bagging clams is truly a lot of work. First you have to un-bag them.

A little tender loving care never hurts. "Nice clam."

Then, you bag 'em.

Volunteers kept arriving...

I think this table needs another bag.

Bagged clams head right to the cooler.

And fresh ones are moved to the work tables...

Always time to get to know your neighbor...

But we can talk and not dally... 46,000 clams bagged in about an hour!

Everyone worked hard - just for you!

Winding down.

Time for food, good company, and some great views from the Glenwood Evans dock.

Future clam-lover

Time to bid you farewell until the next clam bagging.

Some went home by car...some by boat. You gotta love Crisfield!

Oh, and we left Glenwood Evans just as clean as we found it.
