Filtered solitude

 Beach chair photo
“Solitude is painful when one is young, but delightful when one is more mature.” ~ Albert Einstein

Cruise, anyone?

Don't even think about stowing away. "Hey, I paid for my ticket!"

Of course, you can always buy your own boat.

Or shell out a few bucks for an afternoon or evening get-away...

What a difference three years makes...

"A change in the weather is sufficient to recreate the world and ourselves." ~ Marcel Proust

On March 2, March 2009, our weather looked like this...
Today's weather, March 3, 2012 - niceee: 54 degrees and clearing, from all the rain we had. Earlier in the week, we had a tornado watch. Fortunately, it never became a warning. Other states across the country did not fair so well. Tornadoes hit the South and Midwest.

Biking in the rain

And of course, there are those who bike in the rain.

It's Saturday. Get away from the highways and find an out-of-the-way ice cream palor.

Ice cream in Maryland photo
"The improved American highway system isolated the American-in-transit. On his speedway he had no contact with the towns which he by-passed. If he stopped for food or gas, he was served no local fare or local fuel, but had one of Howard Johnson's nationally branded ice cream flavors, and so many gallons of Exxon. This vast ocean of superhighways was nearly as free of culture as the sea traversed by the Mayflower Pilgrims." ~ Daniel J. Boorstin

Saturday is always a good day for a drive. Explore your back-roads. You'll be surprised at what your find.

I nostalgia-ed this photo up for you.

A good man...Ted Phoebus, Boy Scouts of America - Somerset Outstanding Citizen, 2012

"Don't try to be different.  Just be good.  To be good is different enough."  ~ Arthur Freed

A good man, indeed. An award well deserved. Congratulations.

Maryland sunset

Horace Mann quotes, maryland sunset
"Two golden hours somewhere between sunrise and sunset. Both are set with 60 diamond minutes. No reward is offered. They are gone forever." ~ Horace Mann

I have taken photos at this spot before. I think I posted a similar photo a few weeks ago. This photo was taken on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, as I was returning from a day of errand-running in Salisbury.

I am not much on landscape photos. I like people in my photos, so I don't chase sunsets, but when I see Mother Nature smiling at me, I can't resist.  No tripod; just point, close my eyes, and shoot.

Since I took only one shot, I turned it into several. The first one could be the moon.

Or is could be a psychedelic eye-in-the-sky...I kind of like this one.

For you newbies out there, please never look at the sun directly through your viewfinder.
