Ocean City Air Show photos, June 9, 2012

Since it's not too late to catch the next show on Sunday, June 10, I won't give away the whole show until I have time to post more photos. The beach is beautiful and the ocean breeze and the water will cool you off, so grab a chair, a beach towel, pack a lunch, and head out to Ocean City, Maryland and watch the best of the best perform. I promise they will thrill you.  Oh, to avoid traffic use the park and ride. Only one-dollar each way or three bucks for a whole day in case you left something in your car like I did - my tripod, which comes in handy as an extra hand. Have exact change. 


Now, on with the show; let's call it a teaser. Thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, coordinators, and all of you who showed up. What a crowd. Ocean City, you know how to throw a party. Not only was it a party, it was a true tribute to the men and women in the skies who have spent their whole lives learning how to soar with the birds in a most entertaining way. A special thanks to our military who reminded us that we are indeed protected.

The Wright Brothers piloted their first flight on December 17, 1903. With all man's inventions, from electricity to automobiles to television to computers, and everything in between, nothing still intrigues us like flight. Perhaps it is inherent in us, man first looking up in marvel at the birds soaring above his head, mystical and free.


This weekend, June 9 - 10, you can turn your heads to the sky in Ocean City and experience the thrill of flight. The "birds" of old will be the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the U.S. Navy F-18 Hornets, the Black Diamond Jet team, along with many more. Click on photo for all the details.

Ocean City is rolling out a new laser show beginning today, May 28. I have a front row seat in an ocean-view room. I love laser shows. I remember growing up watching the laser show on Stone Mountain. It was totally awesome. I have not seen a laser show since leaving Georgia, so I am looking forward to seeing what Ocean City will be offering visitors during its Summer of Thanks package.

If you can't get to Ocean City tonight, you have all summer to make a date. There is a reason why they call it the Summer of Thanks. Dates below. Don't forget the fireworks, every Tuesday. I love fireworks too!

Laser show on Sundays; fireworks on Tuesdays. Don't mix them up, but do try do get them both into your vacation package.

Olde Crisfield Crab and Steak House and tiki bar is now closed, with no plans to re-open, as of March 2012. Museum is open!

Our first stop - the Tawes Museum. Tim is an excellent guide. You can contact him at 410.968.2501. He is available for both small and large groups and boy, does he know Crisfield's history!

Let's go inside the museum...just a sneak peek. You have to visit the museum for all the goodies and the narration, of course.

Tim will tell you all about the city that was built on oyster shells.

You will see some fascinating photos throughout the museum. The way the museum came by them and the stories behind them are even more fascinating. But you will have to let Tim tell you the stories.

Crisfield is the home of the infamous duck carvers Lem and Steve Ward, whose workshop is right around the corner from me. The workshop is on the tour.

And no trip to the museum would be complete without a visit to the crab shanty. If you're there on a good day you'll get demonstrations from Austin Cox, Sr., a survivor of Normandy. And if you call the museum in advance, Austin will be waiting for you.

Everyone gets a kick out of the blowfish.

The museum has a nice gift shop you will want to visit.
