Yesterday, I focused on the quaint porches of Chesapeake City, MD. We spent this past Sunday and Monday enjoying the beauty of the waterfront town. Today, I offer up some random photos from our 2 day stay. I definitely recommend this as a destination town. Take your cameras, your bikes, and your appetite.

Be on the lookout for the many historical signs that grace the town.

If I were keeper of the names of cities, I would change the name of Chesapeake City. Not  because I don't like the name. How could one not like a name that rolls so eloquently off the tongue? I would change it because, as I was walking the streets of this quaint, historical town this past weekend, I kept saying to my husband, "What a cute little porch." 

The town is lined with businesses, restaurants, B&B's, and private residential homes that have inviting porches that beckon passers-by to take a seat and enjoy the flavor of the town. I love porches. Don't we all?

Yes, I would change the name to the Town of Cute Little Porches. Too long a name? Yes. And since the town went through a name change in 1839 - it used to be called Village of Bohemia - and since I am not the keeper of town names, I will will have to  be happy with the current name. However, when the travel bug beckons me back to Cecil County, Maryland, as it often does, I may say to my husband, "Let's go to the town of Cute Little Porches."

FYI: Cecil County, Maryland will be honoring local vets with with music, food, and fireworks on July 3, 2012. Admission is free. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Location: North East Community Park at Walnut St. and North East. More info


Not too many counties give you 2 days of fireworks, but if you miss the July 3 fireworks, jump on over to the North East Community Park on Walnut Street in Elkton and enjoy live music and food before fireworks. Event begins at 7:00 p.m. on the 4th, and is also free. More info.
