Merry Christmas to everyone from the Crisfield Chamber of Commerce, the Crisfield-Somerset County Times, the City of Crisfield, Crisfield Events, Tawes Museum, the Heritage Foundation, and all of our many organizations and volunteers who help make Crisfield a wonderful place to live;. And, of course,  from the photographer who enjoys bringing Crisfield into you home each day.

About this photo: This photo was taken while shooting for the Crisfield-Somerset County Times. After I had completed my "visit" with Santa, I was walking away, and turned around, as all photographers do to see what they may have missed, and I captured this Hallmark moment. I could not have set this up better if I had tried. I aged the card in Adobe Photo CS4, and contacted the parents for permission to use it as my personal snail-mail Christmas card for next year.

2010 Grammy Award Winner Jason Crabb performs in Crisfield

Am I a little behind in my event keeping, or what? This may be late  coming but you still have time to buy tickets. Give the Chamber a call at 410.968.2500. I can't promise there will be any tickets if you wait, but tickets will be $15.00 at the door. Don't blame me if you show up and don't have a seat.

National Hard Crab Derby, 2010 - Celebrating 63 years!

I should have posted this a month ago. Everyone is gearing up for the 63rd National Hard Crab Derby. It's a big deal around here. The festivities start on Thursday September 2, with the Miss Crustacean Pageant. We have four fun-filled days of events that are sure to entertain the entire family. What are you waiting for? I am posting some past "Derby" events to show you what you have been missing.


Here are a few photos from past Miss Crustacean pageants. My files are not in order and my time is limited, so I apologize if I missed anyone. We have a lot of talent in Crisfield. Good luck to the 2010 contestants!

The First Baptist Church in Crisfield has a cooking contest on Friday, September 3. Spectators can sample some scrumptious crab dishes. Or you can contact them and compete with some of our best cooks - if you dare. You gotta know "crab", though.

Kids and adults can enjoy the carnival throughout Crab Derby weekend.

We have 2 bands this year. Woo-hoo! On Friday night, you can enjoy The Funsters. Saturday, the Aerosmith Tribute Band will be playing. Call the Chamber for tables for The Funsters. Aerosmith tables are sold out, but general admission is still available to both events. Bring your chairs and blankets.

On Saturday, enjoy a great small-town parade (the best kind) on Main Street.

After the parade, head to Somers Cove Marina and watch the crab races. Or you can buy a crab, name it, and join in on the fun.

And of course, there is our famous crab-picking contest.

You can also buy fresh-picked crab.

On Sunday local waterman compete in the boat docking contest.

John Phoebus and Bob Ehrlich Fundraiser Photos, July 21 and 23, 2010

This is not an endorsement for any candidate.

This past Wednesday, after the Tawes Clam Bake, I was invited to take photos of a fundraiser at the home of Fred Lankford. Among those attending the event were John Phoebus and Bob Ehrlich.

Ehrlich, who is running for Governor of Maryland, served as the 60th Governor of Maryland from 2003 to 2007.

The following Saturday, Phoebus, local Crisfield attorney and candidate for House of Delegates - District 38A, held his kick-off campaign at the Black Diamond Lodge in Fruitland, where I was also invited to take photos.

Because I am still running behind, I am posting both events at the same time.  Enjoy the photos!
