Look closely. There is a helicopter amongst the dancing pigeons.

Red Barn to cool you down

Red Barn photo
While going through files I found this photo. What better time to post a "cool" photo with the summer heat bearing down on us?

Guitar Man

Guitar Man
I love street performers. My favorite cities for watching people perform are New Orleans and Key West. I have found some favored spots all around the country and abroad, but somehow, the South seems to have a certain magic, probably because I spent a lot of time there.

I used to travel to Key West several times a year, more to New Orleans because I had a friend who owned an apartment over Al Hirt's club on Bourbon Street. Oh, the times we had.

We have a lot of talented people in this country; we should encourage and support them.

Sunday filtered flowers

Sunday filtered flowers
I could not resist snapping a photo of these flowers blown from their pot into the street. The yellow curb mixed with the pink, white and purple flower (purple flower, a bud, hugs the curb) was what caught my eye. I filtered the photo to give it an artistic feel, the kind I felt when I saw came upon the flowers.

Crab Place Crab Feast, June 23, 2012

Crab Place Crab Feast, June 2012

I was not able to make the cruise, last minute changes, but look at what you missed! Don't miss out on the next Crab and Cruise. Keep up to date on events and cruises at the Crab Place web site. Owner Greg Cain knows how to throw a party in grand style. In the area? Have your own party and enjoy some of the best food on the Eastern Shore.

As indicated in my last post, I am behind in some projects, so I will post more photos late next week.

Crab Place Crab and Cruise, June 2012 kickoff with chef Maxel Hardy.

Crab Place Crab and Cruise, June 2012

Thanks to owner Greg Cain for inviting me to cover the largest privately-run event in Crisfield, the annual Crab and Cruise. Actually, the Crab and Cruise part is not until this evening, but the event was kicked off in grand style by celebrity chef Maxel Hardy, personal chef for New York Knicks Amare Stoudemire. Hardy treated over 200 people to fish tacos and paella. Samples of Van Gogh Vodka, one of the sponsors for Hardy, were a big hit. Loved all those tantalizing flavors!

After dinner, live music was performed by the band Blue Stone Circle.

FedEx, my favored shipper, is a sponsor for the 2-day event.

I am a bit busy at the moment, so here are a few photos from last nights events. I will be posting more later next week along with photos from the crab and cruise.

For info on Crab and Cruise events, and all the delicacies FedEx can deliver to your door, check out the official website of the Crab Place.

Missed this event? Make reservations for the next one!

A crabber and an oysterman

A crabber and an oysterman
I promised my friends I would post their photo. Cute couple, eh? He is a hard-working waterman and she is a massage therapist. You can find them on Deal Island, Maryland.
