Norfolk Southern

Norfolk Southern
It's been a long time since I had to stop for a train, so I thought I would take advantage of the moment. I wish we had more trains moving both goods and people.

FYI: From Wikipedia: Norfolk Southern was created from predecessor railroads which date back to the early portion of the 19th century. Prior to modern times, the three main branches of the current corporate family tree were for many years themselves systems: Norfolk and Western, formed in 1881, Southern Railway System in 1894, and Conrail, formed much later, in 1976.[1] Each of these grew from many smaller local and regional lines as the railroad industry grew.

Today, Norfolk Southern, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, operates over 20,000 route miles in 22 eastern States.

We could use some of that rain in my part of the country. The Weather Channel gives us a pretty good chance of rain, starting tomorrow (August 4) through Tuesday. It's still going to be miserably hot.

Dog Days cool off, rain, and maybe some more rain for first week in August, 2012

Dog Days in Maryland
It has been "dog days" hot, and Serengeti dry for way too long, but we have been having a short cooling period, meaning it hasn't felt like 105. And we have had a little rain.

According to  the Weather Channel, today may offer up some more rain, but it will be the end of the cooling period. Get ready for more hot weekend weather.  In the meantime, enjoy "Dog Days" in style at one of Maryland's beautiful beaches.
