Here's the Church

Here's the church, and here's the steeple
Open the door and see all the people.
Here's the parson going upstairs,
And here he is saying his prayers.


We might not have any fancy new churches like a lot of you do, but we have some fine people who attend our churches.

And folks, these churches have some real history in them.

Let me rephrase the above quote to read "sons and daughters."

And, if I may put religion aside for one moment, if you are ever in Crisfield, check out the newspaper for church suppers. We want you to dine at all of our fine restaurants, but if you can find a church supper on a Friday or Saturday night, you will be treating yourself to some real home cooking, Eastern Shore style; and you will meet some super friendly people!

Don't Forget Church Photo Day on Friday!

All you shutter bugs, and professionals out there: Remember, Friday is "church photo day." Reggie Girl and I are shooting different subjects each week in our "My Town Shoot-Out" (do you like that Reggie Girl?).

This week, the subject is churches. I try to post around ten photos, Reggie Girl likes to outdo me, but you can shoot just a couple if you don't have a lot of time, or churches, in your area.

I have received a few emails from other bloggers who wanted to participate...everyone is welcome. The following week, we are doing people.

It is nice to be able to take a virtual stroll through other people's home towns.

Basir, it would be great if you could join us, too.

And I know that Barry can dig out some photos!

Note: I took the photo of this church last summer. It has been abandoned for many years. I keep hoping someone will buy it and fix it up before it falls in. It has the most beautiful stained-glass windows, what is left of them.

The church is not in Crisfield (you didn't think I would post a photo from my town before Friday, did you?), but it is in our county.

The Thaw...

Looks like the sun is warming us up a bit after the big storm. It is 22 degrees, 17 days before the first day of spring, and we have icicles hanging from our roof.

Yea, I know. All you professionals are wondering why I did not use a polarizor. My studio is on the top floor, and my polarizor was two levels down, and I was too lazy to go get it.

It's a train...it's a plane...it's a crab pot in the snow.

OK. So, I can't post my snow photos on my personal blog like Reggie Girl did, so I had to post this stupid crab pot in my yard - just so I had at least one photo.

Where is Spring?

With a snow storm headed our way this evening, I will most likely be out first thing in the morning taking photos for my newspaper. If I have a left over photo, I will post, and you can click on the link to my paper to see the snow photos from our area. We Got Boats!

Yes, Crisfield is known for crafting some of the best custom boats in the country (see previous post). But some people have their own little pet projects happening in their back yards. Click on photos to view.
