Crab Cooking Contest at the First Baptist Church in Crisfield

Crab Cooking Contest at the First Baptist Church in Crisfield - 2010

"Some people like to paint pictures, or do gardening, or build a boat in the basement. Other people get a tremendous pleasure out of the kitchen, because cooking is just as creative and imaginative an activity as drawing, or wood carving, or music." ~ Julia Child

Here are a few more photos from the annual crab cooking contest  held each year the morning after the Miss Crustacean contest. Last week I posted some of the dishes. This post includes the winners. For those of you who missed the short version, I am posting some of the dishes again. My time was limited, so I did not photograph all of the contestants or dishes, but you don't have to miss out on some great recipes. Each year, the First Baptist Church puts together a recipe book. To reserve your copy give them a call at 410.968.0409.

Thanks to the members of the First Baptist Church for continuing the tradition. Eastern Shore people are truly creative when it comes to cooking crab, and all that food sure made me hungry.

I love a man who can cook.

The grand prize winner.

Our newly crowned royalty makes an appearance - their first official duty for the year.

Oooo! Crab Bloody Mary Cocktails. Looks like the judges enjoyed this dish.

The judges hard at work.

Peek-a-boo!

And the winners are...

And then everyone got to sample the food.

Won't you join us next year?

Let's give these ladies a big hand for all their hard work.

And not a burger or dog to be seen! It all looks wonderful, but I could go for the crab cakes!
